Petersburg Exchange publishes wholesale price indicator for styrene
Starting today, the Petersburg Exchange calculates and publishes a wholesale styrene price indicator, reflecting monthly dynamics and the monthly weighted price level (rubles per tonne, VAT included, transport excluded) at four key styrene production sites in the European part of Russia, excluding Siberian plants. The indicator is based on prices of exchange contracts concluded in the Oil Products section, with values determined monthly; preliminary monthly data are compiled as well. The calculation approach was discussed with market participants and approved by the Expert Council on Oil Product Indices in July. Final values and methodology are available on the official Petersburg Exchange site.
Petersburg Exchange introduces new instruments for MTBE in petrochemicals
This is a large‑volume petrochemical product, a high‑octane component of automotive fuels that increases knock resistance. It serves as a raw material for isoprene, butylene and polyisobutylene, used in tire and rubber industries, as well as in the production of adhesives, sealants and lubricants. It is widely used in paints and coatings to make acrylic paints, and in solvents, degreasers and cleaners.
