The St. Petersburg Exchange presented the practice of organized trading to the Financial University and opened the joint professional retraining program “Broker” at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, providing an overview of practical exchange operations and the history of organized trading in Russia.

Alexander Millerman outlined the main directions of the modern commodity exchange, explained how trading and clearing are organized, and highlighted the role of price indicators and analytics in understanding market conditions. Attention was given to the development of the over-the-counter market and international cooperation.

Andrey Kashvarov described exchange trading as a tool of state regulation of commodity markets, explaining that exchange mechanisms and data on concluded trades form a reliable basis for government monitoring of trades in strategically important goods, supporting balanced sector development and regulatory decisions.

«Modern approaches to regulating commodity markets are based on trust in price formation mechanisms. The exchange provides the state and business with a single reference point – an objective exchange price, which helps account for interests of all parties and makes the market environment more transparent and predictable», emphasized Andrey Kashvarov.

Vladislav Zimin discussed the history of exchange trading in Russia and its relationship to the current development stage of the industry, noting the founding of the first Russian exchange and the evolution of the Peterburgskaya Exchange in 2008. He stressed that modern infrastructure enables trades with real deliveries and the formation of price indicators.

«The history of the St. Petersburg Exchange reflects the evolution of organized trading in Russia, combining tradition with technological solutions to expand opportunities for market participants», concluded Vladislav Zimin.

The professional retraining program 'Broker' combines theoretical preparation with practical study of exchange trading mechanisms and will be delivered in the new branded classroom.
