Since June 1, 2026, Uzbekistan's coal market rules have moved to market-based price formation, with price regulation removed and coal no longer listed as a socially significant commodity.
Prices are now determined exclusively on the exchange, and sales occur through organized trading.
For large consumers (thermal power plants, industry) deliveries are at average exchange prices via the 'request for proposals' process; for the population and budget sectors, a separate mechanism applies where producers sell coal on the exchange to accredited suppliers selected through an electronic system considering storage, equipment and tax rating. The chain ends with the platform mycoal.uz: exchange – accredited supplier – platform – final consumer.
The shift to market-based pricing via the exchange fosters a competitive environment with transparent mechanisms, rather than directives, and is intended to drive the coal sector's growth in Uzbekistan. See the article 'Биржа даст стране угля' in Биржевой Вестник (pp. 19–23) Source
