Trading dynamics on the St. Petersburg Exchange show growing use of exchange mechanisms in the Urals Federal District. In the Metals and Alloys section for the first nine months of 2026, trading volume reached 27,840 tonnes, more than triple the level of the same period a year earlier, while trade value rose by 174.3% to 1.3 billion rubles.

Growth in physical volumes is accompanied by an increase in the number of concluded contracts, which rose 90.6% to 61.

That indicates an expanding practice of trading on the organized market and the emergence of additional opportunities to execute deals in metals and alloys. According to Teimuraz Harazashvili, Director for Regional Policy in the Urals Federal District at the Petersburg Exchange, working in the Urals region helps the exchange better account for the specifics of one of the country’s largest industrial regions and ensures practical application of exchange instruments among enterprises across industries in the district. He noted that the exchange plans to progressively expand the assortment of metal products offered on trading, taking into account regional business needs and providing enterprises with additional opportunities to operate on the organized market.

For the metals market, expanding interaction among producers, suppliers and end users is particularly important. The exchange format enables a broader participant base, and the results of concluded trades form transparent price benchmarks that can be used in commercial activity.
