The Saint Petersburg Exchange continues to develop trading in the Forestry and Building Materials section, expanding deliveries to East Asian markets. The latest step is the first contract for sale of sulfite bleached pulp made from coniferous wood; under the contract, the product will be delivered in containers to the Zabajkalsk export station.
The pulp’s sale on the exchange was for the first time carried out by AO Group Ilim. Previously, the company engaged on the Exchange only in purchases, notably of timber and petroleum products.
In the Forestry and Building Materials section of the Saint Petersburg Exchange, 14 companies from the People’s Republic of China are registered. In addition, several dozen dispatch points have been registered in the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts, as well as four delivery bases—balance points—on the territory of the PRC.
“We are working to broaden the range of products offered to gain experience and best practices to determine the optimal service level for our members, as well as to create an efficient mechanism for exporting goods through the entire deal cycle from conclusion to delivery and settlements. We will continue to establish and develop the export direction of exchange trading, increasing the number of project participants, expanding the product range and delivery methods,” said Alexey Ryzhikov, Senior Managing Director of the Saint Petersburg Exchange.
“The exchange trading format demonstrates key advantages—transaction transparency, objective price formation, and high competitiveness. We expect that the exchange-based sales method will over time become an integral part of the company’s marketing policy,” emphasized Ekaterina Kashtanova, Director for Client Relations and Sales Support at AO Group Ilim.
