Over the first seven months of 2026, the total natural gas trading volume on SPIMEX stood at 7.834 bcm, with July turnover surpassing 1.2 bcm, marking the second consecutive month of growth.

Trades with gas delivery ‘for the next month’ totaled 3.135 bcm (40%), while deliveries ‘for the day’ and on non-working day n accounted for 4.699 bcm (60%). Re-sales of unallocated volumes amounted to 0.126 bcm.

Turnover in the trading section amounted to 25.770 billion rubles.

In July, unallocated gas volumes traded under existing contracts rose more than 8.4-fold versus the previous month to 88.5 million cubic meters. Sergey Trofimenko, the Petersburg Exchange’s Managing Director for Gas and Electricity Markets, noted the balance-gas trading system’s effectiveness and the Exchange’s readiness to launch balancing trades of gas under off-exchange contracts.
