At the Golden Autumn – 2026 agro-industrial exhibition in Russia, the Saint Petersburg Exchange and the National Sheep Breeders Union signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing exchange trading of sheep production products.
The parties plan to work in the following directions: enhancing competition and forming fair market prices for sheep products using exchange instruments; digitization of sales and procurement processes; logistics; development and promotion of initiatives to improve the regulatory framework governing production and sale of sheep products; and joint marketing and public events to develop the Russian exchange market and support domestic producers.
Dmitry Chernyshov, Vice President of the Saint Petersburg Exchange, stated: «Exchange trading enables us to accurately determine the market value of industry products — and thereby bring stability and transparency to the agro-industrial complex. We advocate a comprehensive approach: the exchange should handle all livestock sector products — from live cattle and sheep meat to hides, wool, and products of wool waste processing — which are in high demand as fertilizers. I am confident that our partnership with the National Sheep Breeders Union will provide the industry with real tools for dynamic growth, increased herd size, and revival of breeding culture in our country».
Haron Amerkhanyan, Chairman of the Board — President of the National Sheep Breeders Union, added: «Our Union unites everyone who works in the industry — agricultural enterprises, farm operations, processing companies, equipment suppliers. We represent and defend the interests of Russia's sheep breeders and are well aware of their pain points: shrinking herd size, sales difficulties, the need for modernization. Exchange mechanisms are precisely the practical tool that helps address these tasks: they make the market transparent, simplify access to buyers, and give producers a fair price. The agreement signed today will contribute to solving these pressing issues».
