From January to August 2026, the Petersburg Exchange sold 56,297 tonnes of methanol, up 67% year over year from 33,617 tonnes in the same period of 2025.
In August, 8,608 tonnes were sold at an average price of 38,892 rubles per tonne.
According to data from the National Exchange Price Agency, between 24 and 28 August 2026, 5,748 tonnes of technical methanol grade A were traded on the Petersburg Exchange. Under the Samara delivery basis, 3,900 tonnes of methanol were sold at 35,000 rubles per tonne, unchanged from the price observed on July 31, 2026.
The agency’s analytical review indicates price stability in the Russian methanol market as of August 28, 2026; prices at key producers have been unchanged since August 1, and market participants are forming prices for September. Source
