New exchange trading technologies can increase trade tempo with African countries, yet the process is currently held back by the lack of digital infrastructure. At the Russia–Africa forum, Igor Artemyev noted that world exchanges could unite to connect brokers, large clients, and elements of exchange trading infrastructure to create continuously operating, robust export and import channels.
In 2026 the Association of Commodity and Futures Exchanges (ACFE) was formed. Its current members include eight exchanges from seven countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Egypt, Iran, and the PRC. Under ACFE, a digital platform has been created to reduce barriers and costs of cross-border trade. Its architecture does not require changes to the IT infrastructure of exchanging participants and envisions onboarding brokers and centralized collection of export and import offers.
Energy resources traded on the Petersburg Exchange include diesel fuel, coal, gas, and a wide range of mineral fertilizers and chemical products, as well as timber, construction materials and metals. Plans include trading non-raw materials — agricultural machinery, equipment and vehicles. Interchangeable goods from Africa — primarily agricultural products: coffee, tea, fruits, vegetables, flowers, cocoa beans and others. We invite everyone to join the Association and will be glad to conduct deals on our Exchange using 21st-century digital technologies.
