Mutual insurance societies are among the oldest and most resilient risk carriers in the world. The global mutual and cooperative insurance sector contradicts the notion that it is a niche anachronism. According to ICMIF, the combined premium of mutual and cooperative insurers worldwide exceeds $1.4 trillion, representing about 26.3% of the global insurance market.
