Forestry Workers Day is observed today— a professional holiday for those engaged in the preservation and restoration of forests, forest management, harvesting and processing of timber.
The forest is not only a key natural resource but also the foundation for a broad range of industries. The rational use and regeneration of forests depend on the work of thousands of specialists, requiring knowledge, responsibility, and prudent resource management.
For the Petersburg Exchange, the forestry sector holds particular significance. Today the Exchange realizes 100% of timber harvested by state forestry enterprises, and 100% of timber materials harvested by institutions of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (FSIN). In organized trades of timber materials, commercial companies participate. This ensures a transparent mechanism for selling this product and the formation of market price benchmarks.
