In the Metals and Alloys section of the Petersburg Exchange, the first trades of shaped rolled products were completed: angles 75x75x5, 100x100x7, and channel 14U of steel grade 3, produced by the United Metallurgical Company (OMK group). The total traded volume amounted to 500 tonnes, with delivery on a pickup-from-plant basis from OMK’s warehouse in Perm Krai.
Expanding the range of shaped rolled products in the Metals and Alloys section is viewed as an important step in the development of exchange metal trading. Active and prospective market participants gain an additional procurement channel for this in-demand product, and reductions in registration and participation costs could motivate more buyers to use the Exchange and purchase the necessary goods through a bilateral anonymous auction.
Since May 18, the Petersburg Exchange has reduced margin requirements for developing markets by 50 times: from 5% to 0.1% of the deal value. Also, through December 31, 2026, companies in the 'Trade Visitors' category are exempt from participation fees in organized trades. The expansion to include shaped rolled products helps OMK Group broaden its product range on the Exchange and contribute to objective market indicators closer to end customers.
Over the last five months OMK Group has introduced a fourth category of metal product to the Exchange, following standard tubes, flat and rolled products, by adding shaped rolled products—angles and channels. This move aims to form objective market indicators for the produced products and bring them closer to end consumers.
