For the first seven months of 2026, the total coal turnover in the Petersburg Exchange's 'Coal' section reached 1.432 million tonnes, exceeding the full-year 2025 figure of 1.422 million tonnes.
Among the factors supporting the rise are expanded delivery geography, the introduction of new delivery terms including delivery to boiler houses, and a growing number of trading participants. From 18 May 2026, the Exchange reduced margin requirements on developing markets from 5% to 0.1% of the contract value. Through 31 December 2026, companies and individual traders categorized as 'Visitors to trading' are exempt from participation fees.
Igor Chernyshov, the Senior Managing Director of the Petersburg Exchange, noted that the significant growth in coal volumes demonstrates strong demand for the exchange mechanism among producers and buyers and contributes to the development of representative price indicators in the coal market.
A marketing period is in effect, including in the 'Fuels' section.
